ECHOES OF THE MIND, A SOLO EXHIBITION BY ARTIST DAVID HANLEY

The exhibition showcases a curated selection of paintings spanning the artist’s entire body of work, offering a comprehensive reflection of his artistic journey and identity. Known professionally as DaHexd, Hanley is a visionary artist whose work spans across painting, creative technology, and EEG-driven art. Hanley aims to explore the emotional and biological undercurrents of human existence, by translating these into traditional artwork and immersive visuals that reflect the complexity of the mind. Hanley is debuting his work in Cyprus for the first time.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Recognised for his deeply introspective and emotionally charged pieces, DaHexd’s work serves as a reflection of his various mental states and societal observations, blending energetic abstraction with profound self-reflection.

His practice explores themes of mental health, conflict, and human experience, seeking to create a bridge between the internal and the external worlds, by using both traditional methods and cutting-edge technology.

DaHexd’s journey as an artist is one of relentless self-exploration and growth. His early collections, such as Creating in Darkness (2019) and Social Archetypes (2020), laid the foundation for his exploration of emotional depth and societal structures, while his later work—culminating in Omne Trium Perfectum (2023) and The Ravers (2024)—demonstrates a shift towards more visceral, sensory-driven art, incorporating EEG data to map his brain activity during creation.
Through these collections, DaHexd has pioneered a form of art that transcends traditional boundaries, blending neuroscience with creative expression. The integration of EEG technology allows the artist to explore how internal states—shaped by external stimuli like music, movement, and environment—can be visualized, offering new perspectives on the interconnectedness of mind, art, and perception.
In Echoes of the Mind, DaHexd invites viewers to experience the evolution of his artistic practice, as he continues to challenge conventional perceptions of art and consciousness. Through this exhibition, he wishes, not only to redefine what it means to create and experience art, but also to lay the groundwork for the future of interdisciplinary art forms.

In Social Archetypes, DaHexd delved deep into the concept of identity and the roles individuals are forced to play in society. Omne Trium Perfectum (2023)

Omne Trium Perfectum explores the idea that everything that comes in threes is perfect, a concept that deeply resonated with DaHexd as he moved toward a more conceptual, structured approach to his art. The collection is defined by triptychs—three-panel works—that mirror the artist’s evolving use of composition and symbolism. Paintings such as Merged into a Man Like You, King of Conflict, and When Silent There Are Loud Words Spoken showcase DaHexd’s dive into deep psychological and societal themes. This collection came at a point where DaHexd began to explore EEG and the interplay between brain activity and creativity, though he had yet to fully refine his use of the technology. The triptych format allowed DaHexd to explore ideas too complex for a single panel, and in doing so, it marked a new phase in his creative journey.
